Submission types
Submission types
There are 4 types of submissions:
Individual formats
Paper presentations
Paper presentations are 15 minutes including questions. Presentations may be focused on either empirical findings or theoretical analysis. The committee will select individual submissions and schedule a series of paper sessions that include 5-6 abstracts into thematic sessions. These sessions will have a moderator appointed by the committee. Due to limited availability of timeslots the committee may propose to move paper presentations into poster presentations.
Poster presentations
Posters are recommended for individual, free-standing research presentations. Posters are the appropriate format when material can be explained briefly, is suited for graphic or visual presentation, and/or the presenter would benefit from high levels of interaction and discussion.
Group formats
Paper symposium
An integrated set of 3-4 presentations with a discussant or 4-5 presentations without a discussant, on empirical research and theoretical perspectives around a specific topic with emphasis on the integration of findings. Symposium organizers are strongly encouraged to incorporate multiple disciplines, and contributions coming from different cultures/countries. The organizer (chair) is responsible for the paper symposium submission, and papers presented in a paper symposium should not be submitted separately. Total time allotted to a paper symposium will be 75 minutes. It is strongly recommended to reserve at least 15 minutes for discussion with the audience as part of the symposium.
Poster symposium
A focused group of 6-7 poster presentations on a common topic. A poster symposium must include multiple perspectives and contributions from different cultures/countries. The discussant of the poster symposium provides integration of perspectives into a meaningful whole. The recommended distribution of time for a 75-minute session is: 15 minutes for poster viewing and discussion with individual authors, 30 minutes of brief integrative presentations by the discussant and presenting authors of each poster, and a 30-minute discussion with the audience.
Limitation of roles
Please beware that participants are limited to one role as presenting author. This rule generally applies irrespective of the type of submission. The roles of chair and discussant of a symposium, or presenting an invited talk are not subsumed under this rule.
